Look out
Rupert Clamp
Beneath the surface of the city and its architecture lie personal tales, little known ‘facts’ and myths. This integration of the fictional and the factual is perfectly embodied by the Castle Keep in Newcastle – part Victorian folly, part (once functional) medieval building. Look out consists of a viewing board on top of the Keep illustrating a panoramic view of the city centre. Highlighting and describing points of interest drawn from both factual and fictional accounts of the city below, the viewer is left to decide for themselves which are true and which are false.
