People and Place, The Late Shows 2024
Saturday 18 May 6-10pm
‘People and Place’ is a thematic project taking place across the two Gateshead town centre venues of Orbis Community as part of The Late Shows 2024. Consisting of an exhibition and interactive workshops and installations, the evening brings together work by, and is facilitated in collaboration with, students from the Art & Design department at Gateshead College, with further contributions by students from Newcastle University and Northumbria University, alongside artists drawn from Orbis Community and those working with Vane gallery.
In addition, the evening will provide an opportunity to take a look inside the creative workspaces of Orbis Community partners Ampersand Inventions, Atlas North East, Maker Space, and Slow Hand Creative Studio. And to top it all Gingerino’s will be hopping over the river from their Ouseburn home to serve their delicious pizza in the courtyard at 65 High Street.
Orbis Community’s two main venues are a 5-minute walk from one another. Orbis Community at Unit 9, West Street (NE8 1BH) is home to Ampersand Inventions and Slow Hand Creative Studio and Orbis Community at 65 High Street (NE8 2AP) is home to Vane, Atlas North East, and Maker Space.
