Artist talk: Nick Fox in conversation with Dr Fiona Anderson

Artist’s talk: Wednesday 14 December 2016, 6-7pm

Nick Fox will discuss his work with Dr Fiona Anderson, art historian at Newcastle University, on Wednesday 14 December 2016, 6-7pm. Dr Anderson’s research is concerned with art and queer culture from the 1960s to the 1990s, with a particular focus on the HIV/AIDS crisis.

Nick Christie screenprint workshop

Friday 28 October 2016, 7-11pm

Coinciding with ‘Contactless’, Newcastle-based Nick Christie’s solo exhibition at Vane for the International Print Biennale, the artist will hold a drop-in screenprint workshop as part of the Micro-Lates evening. Visitors will have the opportunity to print and take away their own piece of artwork. All materials will be provided.

Nick Christie was born in 1985 in London and lives in Newcastle upon Tyne. He studied BA Honours Fine Art at Northumbria University, 2008-11. He completed the Graduate Fellowship in Printmaking at Northumbria University in 2011-12, and a Fellowship in Printmaking at Northern Print in 2013.

Micro-Lates is a mini culture crawl inspired by The Late Shows and is part of Museums at Night.


Michael Mulvihill

Michael Mulvihill is showing with Elizabeth Saveri in ‘Seeing a Who’, ArtHelix, Brooklyn, USA, 20 October – 13 November 2016.

‘Seeing a Who’ brings together Michael Mulvihill and Pasadena, USA based Elizabeth Saveri, two artists who both explore big themes through the medium of miniature paintings and drawings. The exhibition is part of an exchange between Vane and ArtHelix, Brooklyn, USA. The first iteration of ‘Seeing a Who’ was shown at Vane in May-June this year.


Off The Map

Vane is pleased to be showing ‘Off the Map’ at ArtHelix, Bushwick, Brooklyn, USA, as part of Exchange Rates, The Bushwick International Exposition, Thursday 20 – Sunday 23 October 2016. Artists include Nick Christie, Jorn Ebner, Jonpaul Kirvan, Melanie Kyles, Helen McClafferty, and Matthew Smith.
